Ms. Matsui attended Musashino Art University Junior College of Art and Design and Harper College where she studied fashion design. She founded Eri Matsui Japan in 1988 and established ISAC no Kai in 1999 aiming to unify art and science. She led the Space Wear team of the JAXA Open Lab from 2005 through 2007 and introduced the world's first zero-gravity wedding dress in 2009.

In 1998, having encountered the world of science and mathematics, Ema Rie focused on the relationship between nature and humans and that of clothing and humans. She went on to create and produce clothing collaborating with scientists and mathematicians. In March of 2019 Ema Rie returns to JFW for the first time in seven years.

Ema Rie will be presenting her new collection, her first under her new name.
This collection will feature fashion dresses created by EmaRie and Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with RIKEN AIP and UTokyo IIS&IRCN, with the aim of future coexistence between Human Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence.
